Welcome to ABAC Housing!

On behalf of the Office of Residence Life & Housing, I would like to personally welcome you to ABAC! We are extremely excited that you chose us and that you will be residing on campus at your new home away from home!

Living on campus provides an invaluable complement to a student’s academic career. At ABAC, we provide each student with affordable housing, safe and clean facilities, easy access to all college resources, and a residential curriculum designed to help you learn and grow. We take great pride in offering a robust selection of residential programming opportunities that aim to enhance your ABAC experience.

The Residence Life & Housing staff is committed to providing you with the tools you need to be successful so that you will have the best college experience possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. I would strongly encourage you to get involved, meet new people, and take advantage of what ABAC has to offer. Apply for Housing Today!

Please read all information about housing before completing an application!

You must be accepted to ABAC before applying to live on campus. To apply for housing, you must access the Housing Portal through your MyABAC Page. If you wish to exempt housing, complete the freshman residency exemption section of the online housing application and send the required supporting documentation. Students wishing to exempt housing must meet one of the following criteria:

  • commuting from parent, grandparent, or guardians home within a 50-mile radius
  • 21 years of age as of September 1st
  • parent of a dependent child
  • married
  • earned a minimum of 30 semester hours of collegiate-level credit after high school graduation and have satisfied Learning Support requirements

Online Housing Application and/or Housing Exemption Instructions


  • Log into the StarRez Housing PortalX through the myABAC page.

  • Click on applications from the green bar at the top of the page and select the correct application year.

  • Complete the application answering each question as accurately and completely as possible.

  • Pay the $235 non-refundable application fee via the StarRez application process.

  • If applying for an exemption, select yes to that question and select the reason for exemption. Once completed, the exemption request will be sent to Housing for processing. (There is not a fee to request an exemption).

Important Housing Dates

Spring 2025:  

January 7, 2025 – May 6th, 2025

  • Spring ONLY Applications open November 9th, 2024, at 8 AM EST.
  • Spring move-in is January 4th -6th, 2025.
  • There will be a MANDATORY Housing Meeting video emailed to ALL on campus students.
  • Spring closure: residents must move out by May 7th, 2025, by 12 PM (noon) EST.

Fall 2025:

August 12, 2025 – December 9, 2025

  • NEW Applicants: Applications open November 9th, 2024 at 8 AM EST.
  • RETURNER Applicants:
    • Priority 1: Applications available on January 13, 2025, in person. Students receiving Priority 1 for course registration also receive Priority 1 Housing Registration.
    • Priority 2: Applications open Jan. 20th – 31st, 2025.
  • Room and Roommate Assignments:
  • New Applicants: Room and roommate assignments are viewable in the StarRez housing portal via the instructions below:
    • Log in to myABAC
    • Search "StarRez Housing portal" in the search bar
    • Log into the StarRez Housing portal using the "Login"in the top right corner.  
    • Click “View Your Roommate Information” on the homepage under your email.
  • Returner Applicants: Room selection open Feb. 3-7th, 2025 from which you will immediately know your room and roommates as you chose them.
  • Arrival:
    • Freshmen will move-in on their assigned day. Move-in dates and times will be sent to students’ ABAC email by July 31, 2025.
    • New and returning upperclassmen will move-in on their assigned day. Move-in dates and times will be sent to students’ ABAC email by July 31, 2025.

Roommate Assignments

Room assignments are made per the date on which the Residence Life and Housing Office receive the application and non-refundable reservation fee.

If you desire a specific roommate and/or suitemate, you must identify each requested person. Requests must be mutual, and each roommate/suitemate must have a completed application and paid non-refundable reservation fee on file before the request will be honored. Every attempt will be made to honor these specific requests, and, unless directed otherwise, roommate and suitemate requests will take precedence over other housing option requests (such as those for Living and Learning Communities).

 Notification of Room Assignment

Room and roommate or suitemate assignment information is emailed to your ABAC email address. For Fall Semester, the assignment information is emailed on or around July 31st. For Spring Semester, notices are emailed approximately two weeks before the start of the semester. Each assignment email will contain the following information:

  • Your building assignment
  • Roommate’s or suitemate’s name and email address
  • Move-in dates and times for the specific semester

ABAC Lakeside

Lakeside officially opened in August 2007 as a home for ABAC’s living and learning communities and an opportunity for freshmen at ABAC to start their college careers with a home and a program specifically designed for the needs of freshmen.  Lakeside consists of either two private bedrooms with a shared bathroom, or two shared bedrooms with two shared bathrooms.

ABAC Place

ABAC Place is an apartment-style facility designed to provide upperclassmen a comfortable home while encouraging academic excellence.  ABAC Place consists of four-private bedroom, two-bathroom apartments.  There are a limited number of two and three-bedroom apartments.

Emotional Support Animals

The Office of Residence Life & Housing is pleased to host Emotional Support Animals (ESA or ESAs) in our residence halls. Below you will find our policies and procedures regarding ESAs in our residential facilities and a link to the ESA application that must be completed for an ESA to be housed on campus.

Inside ABAC - Housing

InsideABAC is ABAC's intranet site providing students and employees access to internal communications and information.  Users must log in using email credentials to access documents in InsideABAC.

The Resident Assistant Application is currently available on InsideABAC  - Housing.

Students can also place Online Work Orders for any items in their rooms that need attention such as lighting, plumbing, or network connectivity.
