CAMP

College Assistance Migrant Program

The U.S. Department of Education federally funds the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at ABAC. CAMP is designed to provide support to 30 first-year college students of migrant and seasonal farmworkers. Students are also assisted with obtaining financial aid assistance for the remainder of their undergraduate academic careers. CAMP provides discretionary grants to Institutions of Higher Education (IHE), or other non-profit organizations in cooperation with an IHE, to offer tutoring, counseling, health services, assistance with special admissions, and some financial assistance to enable migrant youth to complete their first year of post-secondary education successfully.

Eligibility

Before a CAMP application is considered, the student must be accepted into ABAC. To be eligible to apply for the CAMP program the student must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Or, be eligible for services from or have participated in TITLE 1 Migrant Education Programs
  • Be eligible for Federal Financial Aid
  • Verify that you or your parent performed a minimum of 75 days of temporary or seasonal farm work over the last two years.
  • Or, be eligible for or have participated in the Department of Labor Migrant & Seasonal Farm-worker Programs.

CAMP recommends students apply fall/early spring semester of their senior year.

Priority deadline is December 1.
Application deadline is March 1.

The recruiter will assist with the application process, please feel free to contact them with any questions or if you are having trouble with the application. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the application is complete. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
